J.K. Rowling outs Dumbledore
I don't think I've ever seen a piece of news circulate the Internet so quickly. In case any of you managed to miss the big news, at a Q&A session in New York J.K. Rowling revealed that she always thought of Dumbledore as gay.
Story from The Observer
Story from Time
I can't say I'm totally surprised by this information, but I'm quite surprised Rowling actually said so!
Although to be honest, if I'd ever made a list of "Potentially gay Harry Potter characters", Dumbledore would have been at best #3.

McGonagall was #1 on my list of gay guesses.
I'm getting a Kinsey Scale reading of at least a 5 on Sirius Black
Oh, come on, don't you think Sirius sired his fair share of puppies in his day?
I always hoped that McGonagall and Dumbledore had a hot and steamy affair going on after all the kiddos went to sleep. I was always hoping Minerva was getting some :)
I did sometimes wonder if McGonagall had a thing going on the side with Dumbledore. Ah well. Maybe there's a Mr. McGonagall?
Maybe McGonagall's transgendered? There's something distinctly manly about her, and I, too, envisioned a Dumbledore/McGonnagall relationship. This begs 2 questions:
1. What other bombshells is JK gonna drop?
2. Is there something wrong with me that the only love match I cared about in these books was the (imagined) one between geezers?
Maybe Dumbledore and McGonagall did have a thing going, but although she was happy enough at first Dumbledore continued to meet his old buddy Grindlewald for fishing trips...from which he never brought back any fish.
All this was, of course, accompanied by a mournful, twangy acoustic guitar. I can almost hear it now...
