Beautiful...elegant...modest
Inspired by Deb's post on swimwear, I decided to see if there were any sites offering formalwear for decent, God-fearing women.
Want to walk down the aisle without looking like a skank? Go to the prom without making your parents ashamed? Just check out any of the sites devoted to "modest" formalwear!
Here's a small sampling:
Some of the gowns are actually pretty nice, although others...are not. However, it seems to be a universal truth that all modest gown websites are poorly designed. Sheesh people, hire a real web designer!

Oh boy. I actually found these sites refreshing! Strapless gowns (and the resulting back fat) are sooo over.
Who knew shoulders were of the devil? Huh. Quality web based research Kelly!
Oh and I love that the first website's tagline is "Clothing Your Father Would Approve Of." It's oh-so-witty! Sure, they mean your actual father but also you almighty father in heaven. Oh those modest gals! So smart!

Did some of those dresses make anyone else think of old antebellum southern dresses? Were some of them wearing hoops?
I hate strapless gowns too, Deb. In fact, I've often wished that I could find formalwear that covered my scrawny shoulders. I just didn't know I had to look for "modest" dresses!
I'd consider several of the featured gowns quite wearable, although the third one down here looks like a fancy circus tent. The two below seem to be bad attempts at period costumes.
Oh wow, formal wear and wedding attire?! Deborah, looks like you and I have found some hot, shoulder-covering, boob-reducing, hip-slimming wedding dresses. I'm sure our parents (fathers most importantly) would approve.
