Wardrobe question

What are you bitches wearing to the SLIS graduation ceremony? This morning Annie reminded me that it was cold out last year on graduation day, and Meridith informed me that we have to order caps & gowns by this Friday. Am I the only moron who did not know this?

Good question. I am going to the Kohl Center ceremony in the afternoon, so I will get the cap and gown for that. Is everyone wearing regular clothes to the SLIS ceremony? If so, I will probably wear a black dress.

From the official instructions:
"The master's hood is considerably longer, has a wider velvet edging, and exposes more of the lining. Candidates for higher degrees wear the hood throughout the commencement ceremony. The edging is yellow for science and white for arts."

This is the main reason I went to graduate school. Velvet edging. I am not even joking.

I thought I'd already missed the deadline for ordering! I'm pretty sure I have a cap and gown at my parents house... does anyone know if we can just order the hood-y thing?

I don't really care that much about the get-up, but I figure the parents might like pictures with me in all the fancy-schmancy gear.

We don't have to go to the Kohl center ceremony do we?

Everything goes with leather, right?

I'm going to the Kohl center too - just rented my gown online.

Did any of you buy your yours? I was thinking about it, but it's too late.
What can I say, I'm big on Souvineers. If it's $40 to rent I was just curious how much they cost if you bought them. .

Not wearing the gown or going to the Kohl Center deal (though the velvet was mighty tempting). I have a nice black and cream leaf-print dress that I'll likely wear with a black button-down sweater. Good 'nuf.

I was just planning on wearing my cap and gown from undergrad!

Maybe I'll order the hood, if you can get one seperately. But the heck I'm shelling out good money to RENT a gown when I already OWN one.

I'm not going to the Kohl Center nor am I wearing the cap and gown to the SLIS ceremony. I have a shirt dress I'm wearing to the ceremony.

With leopard print tights and a margarita in each hand.

I'm sure an undergrad gown will be fine, but there is a difference:
"The bachelor's gown has a closed front and long, pointed, open sleeves. The master's gown has a closed front with long, closed sleeves."

Closed sleeves? Then how does one accept one's diploma? Shake hands with Louise?

I'm also not wearing the cap and gown or going to the Kohl center. This way I get to buy a new dress!
