Find your celebrity look-alike
My big timewaster of the day is this site, which will compare an uploaded photo to a database of celebrity pictures and tell you which stars you most resemble. Some of you have probably seen this on Facebook already, but you can use it through the MyHeritage website too.
As the program ignores hair color, race, and even sex, there can be some pretty weird matches. (Any of you think I look like Martin Lawrence?) Using a large, forward-facing head shot eliminates most but not all of the weird matches. The program also seems to get caught up on hairstyles -- it returned almost all men's photos as matches for me if I uploaded a picture where I had short or pulled-back hair.
My most common celebrity matches included Meryl Streep, Janeane Garafolo, Christina Ricci, Jodie Foster, Angelina Jolie (no, really), and, oddly enough, Frankie Munoz of Malcolm in the Middle fame.
Oh yeah, I also kept getting matched with a photo of young Shirley Temple, which just seemed wrong. And by "wrong" I don't mean "inaccurate" so much as "immoral". I'm having disturbing thoughts of some creep in a bar offering to buy me a Shirley Temple because I "look just like her". Then he'd probably follow me outside, hit me over the head, lock me in his basement, and force me to sing "On the Good Ship Lollipop" until Detectives Benson and Stabler burst in and rescue me.
But I digress.
A nice thing about this program is that their celebrity photo database includes non-US stars, as well as famous people who aren't popular entertainers -- there are politicians, authors, and news anchors too.

Omg, that's awesome.
Apparently, however, I look like Christina Ricci, Natalie Portman, and Chuck Norris. :)
Natalie Portman, hmm, I can see that.
I got Michael Moore as a match for one photo I tried.
Also Ernest Hemingway.
I didn't even think it was a particularly unflattering photo, but there you go.
Ha! I love this!
One of my photos got me Avril Lavigne, Rebecca De Mornay, Kate Hudson, and Jessica Biel.
The second photo got me Adam Brody, Evangeline Lilly, Moritz Leuenberger, and Dan Quayle.
I'm not sure what that means....
I love the SVU reference, Kelly. It's been far too long since I got to do some procrastinating on this blog... with all the wit and wonderful time-wasters, I must schedule myself some blog time more often!
