More NOLA

Conference in full swing. Annie and Katie arrived safely last night. Scored much free stuff in exhibition hall. Met Neil Gaiman (briefly) at book signing. Waited in line too long to use Internet. Book cart drill team is tomorrow!

That's so cool that you met Neil Gaiman, Kelly. He's rather short, isn't he? Several years ago, my little sister and I were spending a lazy Sunday afternoon on State St. and spotted him with his daughter. (He once, maybe still does?, had a home in WI.) We weren't sure if it was him and ended following him around into a bookstore to see if it was. Angela wanted to say something to him but I said to leave him his privacy and so in the end we did leave him alone but he could tell that we were curious about him and had followed him to the store. Sorry, no climax, just creepy stalker-like behavior story.

Have fun at Book Cart Drill Team!

Sounds like a good time. HEY! I want a full report from the Alumni reception, yo. But you can blog later when you don't have to stand in line.

I believe Mr. Gaiman lives in Minnesota, but I wouldn't doubt that he visits our fair burgh.

I had intended to take him to task for setting an important scene in American Gods at the House on the Rock and thus potentially encouraging innocent people to visit the godforsaken place. But he was very nice about signing not just my book but the two Sandman bookmarks I snagged from the Comics and Graphic Novels Pavillion, so I didn't. He even went over my sister's name again because it was hard to read the first time he wrote out the dedication. What a gentleman!
