Book It, Bitches

This is fun: Book It, the fabulous library/Pizza Hut collaboration from our youth is looking for fond memories. I used to LOVE those personal pan pizzas!

And yes, I am on Pizza Hut's emailing list. Not quite sure why or how...

That purple pin WAS awesome. I used to think it was such a great deal--I would have read the books anyway, but I might as well get compensated for them in pizzas.

I would totally buy the purple pin (and fill it up with yellow stars) if you could on the site. I must admit, the shirts are pretty sweet, too.

My favorite part was going to Pizza Hut with my dad, and we would do the MadLibs on the back of the little paper placemats on the tables and play Galaga.

The best part of Book It was going to Pizza Hut where my parents let me pick songs on the jukebox... Once I wanted to play Roxette's "Joy Ride" and accidentally played Led Zeppelin's "Going to California" instead. I can remember thinking, "Eww, who is Led Zeppelin?" and being very creeped out by the guy on the album cover. I had so much to learn....

I was so unsuccessful at Book It--it wasn't a matter of reading, because I could handle that. I just could never remember to have my parents sign the slips. I also once had to sit out on the day the dentist visited our third grade class and gave gratis teeth cleanings because I forgot my permission slip. I've always been awful with paperwork.

Ok, take my librarian credentials away. I have never heard of Book It. What a deprived childhood. Or, maybe I was (sigh) a tad too old when they were doing this. Don't tell anyone.

Ha, I remember Book It! I earned more pizzas than I ever actually got, because my willingness to read books was not matched by my mother's willingness to actually take me to Pizza Hut. (I guess she didn't want to get stuck having to always buy pizza for my sisters at the same time.)
